Bedlam Farms

About Bedlam Farms

Bedlam Farms Organic, formerly known as HolmSelect, was born out of two family owned farming companies – M.F.Martin Ltd and Bedlam Farms. For four generations both companies have been at the forefront of farming in the Cambridgeshire Fens and in 2006 Clive Martin made the decision to convert one third of the farm into specialist organic vegetable production.

Bedlam Farms Organic have a wide range of soil types which enables them to match their crops with the conditions they prefer. They value and nurture their soils to produce healthy, well-fed plants which have good resistance to pests and disease. They have reservoirs and an underground main system around the farm to ensure that their crops are well watered during a dry Summer.

There is a dedicated and highly skilled team of staff who are trained in modern organic growing techniques as well as harvesting and packing machinery. All of their produce passes through their on-site packhouse where it is assessed and packed to customers’ specifications.

Bedlam Farms Organic is committed to caring for and enhancing the environment. They are members of the Higher Level Stewardship and the Organic Entry Level Stewardship Schemes and are a LEAF marque registered farm. They also belong to the Red Tractor Assurance Scheme and hold assurance certificates

The crops are geared towards Summer production and from the first picks of rhubarb and asparagus in the latter half of April, their incredible team of employees will be out in the fields harvesting most days up until mid-November when the Tenderstem® broccoli season finishes.

Once harvested the asparagus, rhubarb, artichokes and Tenderstem® broccoli will be rapidly cooled in one of their high humidity coolers within 15 minutes of leaving the field which significantly increases the shelf life of these products. Mixed squash is harvested into wooden crates and dried and cured in their dedicated squash store.

Bedlam Farms is committed to caring for and enhancing the environment.
